The Boyfriend Bluff

(2026)
A Story by

Collin had months to find a boyfriend after agreeing to the weekend reunion in New York with his old high school friend group. He'd thought it was safe to lie about having one. But when the time arrived to get on the plane, Collin had to get on it alone. And now he is headed to the meet-up, feeling just as boring and awkward as he did ten years ago in high school. With all his might, he wishes he were back home in Nashville with his pet saltwater fish and dull computer programming job.

But serendipty intervenes in the form of a stalled hotel elevator and a hot, tattoed guy named Damon who, when he hears Collin's story, offers to be his fake boyfriend for the weekend. Desperation quickly overcomes reticence, and by the time the elevator is working again, Collin has a fake boyfriend for the weekend.
Little does he suspect how quickly the lines between what is real and what is pretend can blur.
