"I can't come home for Thanksgiving."

Famous last words. As if I stand a chance against my overbearing-but-well-meaning family.

Before I can say "pass the pumpkin pie," my parents' neighbor is here to whisk me back home. What choice do I have, with the much-older Rocco looking so slutty in that cozy sweater? Not only that, but Rocco is a mystery that needs solving. He keeps staring at me like he has something important to say about our history. And boy, there is a lot of history that's gone unspoken about for years. Did I mention he's my first boyfriend's dad?

As if this situation isn't complicated enough, the more time Rocco and I are forced to spend together, the more he begins to open up, stirring up all sorts of forbidden desires in me. So I guess I'll be eating my feelings on Thanksgiving, because nobody'd dare cook up romance with an older neighbor during a close-knit family holiday weekend. That would be wrong. So very wrong.

(Special note: This short story is intentionally written from the point of view of the female main character only.)
