Dark Eden is a compelling novel set in a dark and dystopian landscape, torn apart by the 'Oil Wars' and policed by the faceless Uzi soldiers. Alone after the death of her grandparents, Flora is left to survive in a poverty-stricken hamlet, accompanied only by her dog Magna, her friend Kit and an illicit copy of Pride and Prejudice. When Flora is befriended by Li-Li, the daughter of the wealthy and powerful Rice Lord, Mr Lao, she is offered an insight into the lives of those who rule. But, when letters discovered in her grandfather's chest bring to light a buried past, Flora is forced to question the poverty of her people and seeks out an escape.
