What She Saw

(2026)
A novel by

When Luke Weber walks into the bar where Echo Carson—the woman with the eidetic memory who’s trying to forget some of her past—has been working, and hiding in plain sight, for the last year, she wishes it were the setup to a bad joke. Her abusive ex-boyfriend is back from out of the blue, and her tentative, safe, little world collapses.

Brick Holmes begins a new case in only two days, but when he sees a damsel in distress, he has to step in, pretending to be Echo’s boyfriend just to get the guy out of the bar. He recognizes Echo as one of the incoming students who participated in the small event they held at the university a couple of weeks earlier with the Criminal Justice professor.

Working in a bar and still being a college student at age 30 wasn’t on her BINGO card, but ever seeing Luke again, waltzing in like he owned the place—and her—is just too much for Echo, because she knows trouble always follows Luke. Bad trouble.

That one move, Brick pretending to be Echo’s boyfriend, opens a floodgate of cat-and-mouse games, kidnapping, and near-death experiences, bringing Brick and Echo close together. Closer than he even realizes.

All because of what she saw.
