A novel by

Sir Hillary Ponsonby-Smythe is an MP, a Minister of the Crown and a self-made man in every sense of the word. He started life as Fred Perkins, son of a burglar but kept that quiet and renamed his wife who had begun her life as Gwen Jones into Lady Guinevere, his progress up and up into his present eminence was steady and determined.

Until one fine summer day, his mother gate-crashed one of his classy parties and she was a very different sort of person from her son. Sharp witted, quick and a passionate campaigner, first for CND and then for other causes, the latest being to prevent rich and determined developers from taking over the block of flats in Whitechapel where she'd lived for most of her life. The meeting at the party was chalk and cheese. And naturally the sparks began to fly.
