The Lord Jasper

(1967)
A novel by

Jasper, Earl of Pembroke and later Duke of Bedford, was the brother of Lady Margaret Beaufort's first husband, Edmund, Earl of Richmond. This is the story of Jasper's early life and of his fateful meeting with Margaret on the day of her betrothal to his brother. When Edmund died tragically soon after his marriage, Jasper's love for Margaret took on a new poignancy. Unable to marry her, he devoted his life to the care of her fatherless son; and it was he who was largely responsible for Henry VII's success in wresting the Crown from Richard III on the field of Bosworth.
