The Marquess Meets His Match
(2027)(The first book in the Marriage Mission series)
A novel by Karla Kratovil
Lord Evan Blackwood survived Waterloo with a promise to keep: protect the sister of the soldier who died beside him. He expects fulfilling that duty to be simple. Then he meets Lady Mina Mansfield—and discovers she has no interest in being protected. Still grieving her brother, Mina has come to London with a far more dangerous purpose: revenge on the woman who destroyed her sister’s reputation.
Unfortunately for Mina, Lord Blackwood keeps interfering with her carefully laid schemes. Worse, the infuriating war hero is clever, charming, and far too interested in what she’s doing. When Evan proposes a country-house party—and a fake courtship that will give Mina the perfect opportunity to carry out her revenge—she reluctantly agrees.
Mina knows better than to trust a notorious former rake, particularly one who seems determined to manage her life. But Evan has discovered that the woman he promised to protect is nothing like the wife he once imagined—and somewhere between plotting revenge and pretending to fall in love, his pursuit becomes very real.
Genre: Historical Romance
