Mad Angels is a collection of Larry Kirwan's first five plays and musicals. He has since written another 9 plays including Hard Times which will premiere in NYC in September 2012. But these plays show the roots - from Liverpool Fantasy which has been produced a number of times Off-Broadway and at the Dublin Theatre Festival, to A Night in the Garden written only months before this book went into its first printing. As with Black 47 Larry Kirwan's plays throb with drama, history, politics, urban life and rock & roll. Meet John Lennon, an unemployed docker and still a Liverpool resident in 1987, Charles Stewart Parnell on the night his love for Katherine O'Shea caught up with him, Stevie Hero about to make a stand against the commercialism of the music business, James Connolly subverting Sean MacDermott and Padraig of the Irish Republican Brotherhood after they have kidnapped him, and a host of other unrepentant rebels, saints and sinners all searching for redemption.
