When Harry Tremaine ends up facing a battle for survival, he doesn’t expect to be helped by his very own Angel, but when she materialises out of the smog, Harry knows his life as he knows it has come to an end – and it isn’t because of the knifeman who'''s tried to murder him. Harry knows that to catch whoever tried to kill him, and get to the truth about why they want him dead, he has no choice but to enlist Angel’s help because she’s the only one who’s looked the murderer in the face and can identify him.

Angel hates being out in after dark. Her father’s going to be furious when he finds out that she’s tried to make her way home alone as it is. Being late because she’s got lost in the fog will mean that she’s never going to be allowed out alone again if she doesn’t get home before he does. But she can’t just abandon the handsome stranger to bleed to death in the gutter. He needs urgent help. Angel knows she’s causing herself problems by lingering beside him, but doesn’t expect her life to end up in as much danger as Harry’s.

When the murderer follows her home, Angel’s quickly forced to seek Harry’s help to stay alive, especially when the killer makes it clear that he wants them both dead.
