When young Dr. Garrison Batt completes his medical training on Earth, he is lucky enough to find an assignment on Acoma, a pioneer planet. Garry arrives, however, only to discover that what they want is not a medical doctor but a veterinarian. He is tempted to return to Earth, but decides to stay and begins research which leads him not only to a major discovery, but to suspense and excitement as well.
