Express Riders is an exciting, shoot'em up tale set in the old west. In 1885, Walter Burke and his two partners are forced to make their living as bounty hunters as a means to secure the financing necessary to buy the cattle ranch they've always dreamed of owning. Twenty-five years earlier, the trio met when they rode for the Pony Express and formed a lifelong friendship and bond. After Walter's sister, a New York City socialite, passes away, Walter takes a trip east to assume responsibility of her only son. As an heir, the young and sickly boy stands to inherit his mother's vast estate, despite protests from the boy's stepfather. Walter takes the boy west on a long journey into a world he has only read about in his schoolbooks and dime store novels. Walter and the boy embark on their journey as strangers, but after facing much danger and adventure together, they begin to form the bond of family. Midway through their travels, the boy's stepfather kidnaps the boy for his inheritance. With a hired band of gunfighters, the stepfather plans to take Walter to Mexico, leave him for dead and claim the vast inheritance. With the aid of local farmers and ranchers, Walter and his partners showcase their riding skills with a cross-country, Pony Express type ride and track the stepfather and the boy to a small, western town. In a climatic showdown between Walter and the stepfather, bullets fly as the young, sickly boy grows into manhood and learns the true meaning of courage and family.
