Her dream job becomes a nightmare when Doro clashes with a churlish underling over job duties, library rules, and Doro’s little dog Tee. Following a confrontation between them, the woman is shot. When Doro sees her nemesis struggling over a gun with a stranger, she calls out. The killer escapes but not before shooting Doro’s nemesis. As she reaches the body, Doro grabs the gun before it goes off accidentally—and that is a grave error. Although she tries to help the victim, a witness sees only Doro covered in blood with a weapon at her side.

After becoming the top suspect, Doro is suspended from her job. Although not yet arrested, she vows to clear her name and contacts her fiancé Ev, who is now back with the Prohibition Bureau. Much to her surprise, she learns he is investigating a bootlegging operation with ties to college employees—including the murder victim. Ev is already undercover as a gangster, so Doro joins him as his moll. As the pair navigate the two cases, they find themselves in more danger than ever. Ev puts it all on the line to protect Doro, and she rides to his rescue when their real identities are exposed. Join them as they go into the world of bootleggers and speakeasies
