I thought the difficult part would be finding the gold.
One summer. One archaeological dig in the North Carolina mountains. One very good paycheck. Nobody mentioned the men. James Morrison is a six-foot-six Scot who orders me around his family's land like he owns it, which, annoyingly, he does. He also secretly writes some of the filthiest romance novels I've ever read. Dev runs the collections at Scotland's national museum, says exactly what's in his head, and blushes when he realizes the rest of us heard him. Alex used to hunt treasure on TV. He has a Viking's grin, absolutely no shame, and considerably fewer objections to breaking the law than I do.
Then we dig up a box containing a journal that belonged to Flora MacDonald, the woman who helped Bonnie Prince Charlie escape to Skye. The sketches in the margins turn out to be a code leading to Jacobite gold that's been missing since 1746, and suddenly the summer job I signed up for is a lot more interesting.
It's also a lot more dangerous. Someone in James's own family wants the journal badly enough to steal it out from under us, and he's tangled up with the Camorra, who are considerably less interested in the history than they are in getting their hands on the gold. Before long, we're breaking into Biltmore, crashing a gala in Milan, and following Flora's clues through Scotland to the black water of Loch Arkaig, where a fortune disappeared nearly three hundred years ago.
The men aren't exactly making any of this simpler. Four tents should give us plenty of space from each other, although the single outhouse isn't helping, and somewhere along the way I stop being able to pretend I don't want all three of them. Then it gets even more complicated, because they're not only falling for me. Two of them are falling for each other too.
Nobody is asking me to choose.
Fine by me. I've always been greedy.
Gold Rush is a standalone spicy why choose (MMFM) romance with a lost Jacobite fortune, an international treasure hunt, heists, bisexual heroes, plenty of open-door spice, and a guaranteed happily ever after. From the author of Charlie.
