I thought I’d turned my life around.
I had a wife and two beautiful kids, but one reminder of the past was all it took to turn me into the biggest Scrooge of the season.
I didn’t want to ruin everything for my family.
I wanted them to enjoy their holiday.
I just didn’t want them to force me to pretend I enjoyed it also.
I ruined Santa.
I nearly destroyed our decorations.
And that little twinkle in my daughter’s eye was quickly disappearing.
But fixing things would be easier said than done.
I would do anything to make things better, to make my wife look at me the way she once used to.
