After running away from her husband on their wedding night, Lady Constance Reynolds hadn’t expected to see him again. But now he’s back. He needs an heir and refuses to take no for an answer. In her attempts to convince him she needs more time, she discovers she enjoys spending time with him. As her feelings for him begin to reemerge, she tries to protect her heart. After all, he’s hurt her once before.
Nathan Reynolds, Duke of Beaumonde, is ready to take care of his duty to the dukedom and secure his heir. Unfortunately, when he confronts his runaway bride, she is not willing to return to him and take up the position as his duchess. Although he’s secretly helped her through the years, he finds convincing her to be more challenging than he expected. Although they negotiate well, her reluctance to accept him only proves to him more how much she means to him.
As complications arise at the House of Reform, Constance realizes she can’t hide from her obligation forever, so she gives into her desire to return to her husband. However, after pushing him away for so long, she fears it is too late and that there is another in his heart. Her only option is to fight for him to prove she is the one who loves him. She only hopes he feels the same way.
