For Iain Clark, his wife Robin, and his friends, that message marked the end of the world as they knew it.
After a life of hardship, Iain’s life was finally improving in his golden years, but when a coalition of alien overlords brings about apocalyptic change to the world, all that evaporates.
Now, a video-game-like System has changed everyone and everything on Earth. Normal animals have turned into monsters, alien slavers have descended, and, as always, mankind remains its biggest foe as jerks and psychos now wield magical powers.
But Iain was a survivor, and he’s determined that he and his loved ones survive. Sure, this isn’t the retirement Iain had in mind. But with new bodies that don’t scream in pain 24/7, newly awakened magical powers, and an army of loyal cats, Iain and Robin set off to find their friends and escape New Orleans before the System traps them forever.
In the end, though, Iain will have to rely on one principle to survive: Anything dies to a big enough explosion, because the BOOM is good.
