She's his boss. He's her biggest problem. Valentine's Day is about to make it worse.

Dr. Margot Ellis doesn't do Valentine's Day. She does emergency surgeries, vaccination schedules, and pretending the entire month of February doesn't exist. As the owner of a small veterinary practice in Ivy Hollow, Virginia, she's perfectly content to spend the fourteenth elbow-deep in a Labrador's dental cleaning while the rest of the town loses its collective mind over chocolate and roses.

Then her vet tech volunteers them both to co-chair the town's Valentine's Day Festival.

Without asking her.

Leo Castillo has been Margot's veterinary technician for two years, and in that time he has brought homemade cookies to every staff meeting, named every stray that comes through the door, and smiled at her like her permanent scowl is a challenge he's personally accepted. He's five years older, annoyingly competent, and the only person on her staff who isn't even a little bit afraid of her. Which is a problem, because fear is how she maintains order.

Now they're sharing a folding table at committee meetings, arguing over twinkle light budgets, and spending every evening after the clinic closes knee-deep in festival plans. The town keeps "accidentally" scheduling them for couples' taste-testing at the bakery. Leo keeps looking at her across the examination table like he knows something she doesn't.

She is his employer. She is a professional. She is absolutely not thinking about the way he rolls his sleeves up to his elbows when he's restraining a nervous terrier.

Margot doesn't believe in Valentine's Day. But the man who's worked beside her for two years is making a very compelling case that she's been overlooking something important, and it isn't the festival budget.

My Grumpy Valentine is a sweet, closed-door romance featuring a no-nonsense veterinarian who considers hearts and flowers a professional liability, a vet tech whose patience extends to animals and stubborn women alike, and a small town that has been placing bets on these two since the day he was hired.
