Waiting for Pa

(2026)
A novel by

Burt and his half sister, Maria, try to understand their deceased father, a surveyor who was seldom home when they were growing up, but he left notes and wrote letters. His notes show he found a gold discovery in the Huachuca Mountains of Arizona, a place infested with not-so-friendly Apache bands. This is the story of trying to recover that gold and stay alive to carry it home. The gold is only the means for buying a place on the Mogollon Rim, a place their father had seen in his travels and which he detailed in his travels. Burt has dreamed about the Rim ever since he read his father's description of it, and when he tells his sister and wife, Charlotte, they're also thinking it's the ideal place for them to settle. A tale from the pen of R.O. Lane, master storyteller of the Old West.
