I was a child of Zeus. I belonged in Olympus, among gods and immortals, where humans prayed to me without every knowing me.
Then Zeus cast us out.
My siblings and I were sent crashing down to Earth, stripped of our powers and forced to live as humans. Worse, almost everything about our former lives was taken from us. All I had left was a vague, aching memory of somewhere I once called home.
I remembered nothing. Didn’t know what was prayed to me. Didn’t even know about the people who prayed to me.
Zeus gave me one chance to return.
To earn my place in Olympus, I had to learn what it truly meant to protect the innocentto care for children and animals, not because they worshipped me, but because they depended on me.
I was ready.
At least, I thought I was.
Then there was Josh.
Josh was a single father to Delilah, a little girl with an enormous heart, and Uni, her equally lovable dog. They were supposed to be my lesson. A family I would protect until I proved to Zeus that I had learned what it meant to care for others.
Josh, however, was not part of my plan.
He was stubborn. Protective. Exhaustingly human.
Every time he touched me, my heart did something funny.
Once I realized I had fallen in love with them all, they felt more like home than Olympus ever had.
Suddenly, returning to the heavens wasn’t the reward I’d imagined.
But Zeus was calling me home. Olympus was waiting.
But for the first time in my existence, the choice was mine.
Return to the gods who made meor stay with the family who taught me what it means to love.
