Alia Mamdouh


Iraq (b.1944)

Alia Mamdouh also spelled Aliyah Mamduh to an Iraqi father and Syrian mother who both came from Tikrit and Alia grew up in the capital Baghdad. She is an Iraqi novelist, author and journalist living in exile in Paris, France. She holds an Naguib Mahfouz Award in Arabic Literature. She is most notably known for her book Naphtalene, as it was widely acclaimed and translated.
