Summer is in the air, parties are on everyone's mind, and something silent, deadly, and dangerous lurks in the water.
It's officially the first day of summer and despite the recent spate of mysterious disappearances in the area, the town of Brookfield is in celebration mode. The weather is hot and still, and the lakes are an enormous drawcard for Brookfield's inhabitants.
Anita Cruickshank is holding her annual 'Welcome to Summer' party at Lake Serene on Saturday night. She has a long guest list, although Paul Chisholm knows that he will never receive a party invitation from his long-time nemesis. All the same, Paul has plenty of his own achievements to celebrate and he's also heading for Lake Serene tonight to relax and enjoy the evening.
As the alcohol and food start to flow, as the languid daylight slowly gives way to night, and as the truth starts to hit home for many of Brookfield's citizens, the hungry creatures in the lake are beginning to stir.
