And there, maybe fifty feet below, well beyond one hundred feet mark, on a thin spur of rock, a shadow metamorphosed under his eyes into something new, something unexpected. The sunlight sketched its supple shape, its long front roster, the stub of a tower. A cannon, half-buried in sand.
...
A submarine. It laid on the rock ledge, protected by the cliff against currents, half-buried in sand, the exposed steel skin covered in a thin layer of silt. It laid on its side, like a big beast resting in the heat of the midday. There were signs painted on the conning tower. A number, and the profile of a tentacled beast.
87. There was the number eighty-seven stamped on the side of the tower. And an octopus. And a black swastika.

Similar to the works of David Dodge and Leslie Charteris, Davide Mana's The Corsair series moves along the same lines of an old television show called "The Persuaders". Chock full of thrills and adventure, a drop of noir, and a little humor with a tough-as-nails hero that has all the savvy of a Travis McGee and suave demeanor of TV's Lovejoy. He chats with the reader, outwits the bad guys, pulls in the beautiful ladies, and maybe makes a buck or two while he's at it. All set in the 1950s Mediterranean.
