A novel by

Car, clothes, and money stolen, April Conway and her daughter, Staci, are stranded in a local police station, waiting for Jake the Rake to come and get them. The father of Staci's pen pal, Jake is an all-star athlete, a notorious womanizer, and April's last resort. Free of the confines of her past, April finds that independence has never been more challenging--or frustrating. This isn't exactly the "new start" April had in mind when she left her hometown. As soon as he meets April, Jake Keegan knows it's time to set the record straight. He's really just a nice guy, a devoted father, and an immediate captive to the charms of his reluctant houseguest. Astounded by the intensity of his feelings, Jake imagines a future with April in it. Yet just as he and April are swept away by their emotions, Jake goes one step too far, and endangers the very love he's tried so hard to preserve
