Ezra Benson is the son of a wealthy St Louis banking family. The sudden death of his fiancée has him questioning his faith and his purpose in life. Most of all, whether he is capable of true love. He moves to an isolated cabin in the far northwest to train sled dogs for mining prospectors. In this self-imposed exile, he hopes to find God’s direction for his life.

Not far from Ezra’s cabin, Anna Clarke lives with her abusive husband. After he is killed by his partners, she takes the gold they’re after and escapes straight into a blizzard. Ezra’s dogs lead him to an unconscious and very pregnant Anna lying in the snow.

Anna has resolved never to depend on another man. She can’t deny Ezra’s different from any man she’s ever known and she can rely on him for protection, but can she trust him with her heart?
