Elona Malterre



lona Malterre describes The Last Wolf of Ireland as a dramatization of "issues concerning life, the futility of violence, and the recognition that human beings must respect all living things."

Born in France and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where she now lives, Elona Malterre is a recipient of the Bliss Carman Award for poetry. Her love of Ireland was sparked when she took a course in Irish literature leading to an M.A. in English.

She has taught literature and creative writing at the University of Calgary and at Mount Royal College, where she currently teaches part-time. Elona is the author of two historical novels for adults, The Celts and Mistress of the Eagles.

The Last Wolf of Ireland was written at the request of her daughter, Alexandra.
