The fifth gripping mystery in Fleur McDonald's acclaimed Kalgoorlie series
Can she run fast enough to get away?
Gracie Martin goes out for a run early one morning. Later that day, her husband Kyle comes home to an empty house. Gracie's phone goes straight to her message bank and her friends haven't seen her.
In a more chilling development, group of night joggers find Gracie's sneakers placed neatly in the middle of a running track. There is nothing to indicate why she's left them there or where she is.
As Detectives Angie Sullivan and Damien Carmichael investigate, they discover two disturbing leads. One, that Gracie had been helping a woman escape a terrible marriage and the violent, controlling ex-husband had already threatened Gracie.
The second is that there are numerous reports over the last twelve months of a suspicious person following runners in the same area as Gracie disappeared in.
Was the ex-husband waiting for Gracie in the shadows of the running track or is something more sinister waiting to reveal itself?
Praise for Fleur McDonald's Kalgoorlie series:
'McDonald's great factuality, the amazing plot twist (which I didn't see coming at all) and superb writing kept me hooked' Good Reading
'Superb writing and storytelling' The Australian
'[An] atmospheric murder mystery with convincingly drawn detectives and well-constructed plot' The Age
Genre: Mystery
