(1996)
A novel by

Rosie Colville needs an answer to the chaos that her life has become.

Desperately trying to carve out enough time for her small son, working long hours to keep her interior design business afloat as well as a roof above their heads, a solution has to be found. Surprisingly, it seems to come in the shape of Rory. Her unreliable and unfaithful ex husband, who she walked out on six years ago leaving her to struggle to raise their ten-year old son, Tom, on her own.

Inexplicably, Rory wants her back. He's a changed man, he claims.

At first she refuses, seeing no future for them on any level, but when disaster strikes she has nowhere to turn. All of a sudden the idea of shared parenting but separate lives, all under the same roof begins to seem not so bad. To her friends she insists it is a business arrangement like any other.

But it leaves the unspoken question dangerously hanging in the air: just what kind of business is this?
