New York City, 1923. When Jax and Laura Diamond arrive at the Biltmore Hotel for the Masquerade Ball, dressing up like a Musketeer isn’t the only thing that makes Jax uneasy. He discovers the hotel combined the event with a priceless art exhibit from France, and their security detail expects trouble.
While the guests enjoy a night of dancing, hors d’oeuvres, and champagne, Jax keeps a keen eye on a few suspicious characters. Yet, at the stroke of midnight and right under his nose, several masterpieces vanish, and two guards are dead.
Laura isn’t thrilled about Jax working alongside the captivating female officer in charge of the case. Neither is he, but they find themselves in quite a pickle when one of the priceless paintings ends up in their attic.
In one of his toughest cases, where no one is who they seem, and both sides of the law are working against him, Jax turns to a hardened criminal for help in solving the case. And the game begins…
