Bewitched Broomstick Brouhaha
(2026)(The first book in the All Hallows Magical Inn Mystery series)
A novel by Kat McGee
Nothing ruins a reputation like a murdered guest and a poisoned bowl of broth with your name on it.
Evie Evermore built her life around hospitality. At All Hallows Haven Inn, she reads the morning by the light through her front window, the mood of her floorboards, and the way her kettle chooses to boil. But no amount of innkeeper's intuition prepares her for the Broomstick Brouhaha, a festival that brings magical racing, eccentric collectors, and one Constance Crowe to her doorstep.
Constance arrives with a bonded broom that hums with power and a family history soaked in bitterness. She leaves as a corpse, poisoned by broth Evie prepared and placed outside her door. The murder weapon is Evie's own cooking. The mocking clue is a spoon that belongs to someone else entirely. And before the night is over, the town has decided that Evie Evermore is a killer.
Refusing to wait for the sheriff to make a bigger mess, Evie gathers her unlikely team: a talking cat who treats every guest like a suspect, a nineteen-year-old clerk with a notebook and zero patience for nonsense, and a skeleton who dresses for tragedy and delivers riddles instead of answers. Together, they must sort through a festival full of people who wanted Constance's broom, her secrets, or her silence.
The deeper Evie digs, the more she realizes the poison wasn't just in the broth. It was in the town, in the family, and in a locket that should have been a gift but became a weapon. If she can't find the killer before the Brouhaha ends, she'll lose her inn, her freedom, and the people who make All Hallows home.
To save everything she loves, Evie will have to solve a murder, clear her name, and prove that hospitality is not a weapon. Even when someone uses it as one.
