Braking & Entering
(2027)(The first book in the Truck Driver Cozy Mystery series)
A novel by Kathryn Mykel
Derrick Palko never wanted to be a trucker. He just needed to be hard to find. One bad date with Darla turned into six months of hacked accounts, pink-glitter footprints, and a woman who refused to go away. With his dog Bandit, Derrick is forced to flee. He becomes ‘Carl’ and joins Last Chance Trucking Co.—despite barely knowing how to drive an eighteen-wheeler.
Life on the road is supposed to keep him moving, but when he’s forced to stop at a seedy motel along his route, a string of break-ins tells his old insurance-adjuster instincts that something doesn’t add up.
With a hearse-driving trucker named Casket, a loud giant called Whisper, and a nun joining the investigation, keeping a low profile gets harder by the mile. While Carl is busy figuring out who’s breaking into motel rooms, Darla is busy figuring out exactly where Derrick Palko went.
