Altering Horizons

(2025)
A novel by

Sarah, Victoria, and Christine have climbed to higher ground.

They now see broader horizons, new possibilities they never dreamed existed.

Consequently, they are altering their horizons, expanding their goals.

But how do they do that in Riverford, Texas in 1899?

Sarah Novak’s first year of teaching the town children has made her even more determined to educate the immigrant sharecroppers’ children and rescue them from a life restricted to the cotton fields. She loves Lee Logan, but the tradition-bound school board still will not hire married female teachers.

Victoria is producing paintings which portray strong women defying traditional gender barriers. Her horizons are altered when she understands she is called to help the needy anywhere she sees them, even in Riverford.

Christine has always seen herself as an amateur musician, but now the world is calling her to the concert stage. Can she further her daughter’s ambitions by answering that call?

As all three women struggle to alter their horizons, a flu epidemic hits Riverford, and its citizens begin to die.
