"That there lake is haunted," old Samson cackled. ‘Something’s always afoot'''. No one knew that more than Arnie Samson, a gruff elderly man who lives on the northern shore of Eagle Lake with his companion, a red owl named Hanna.
Eagle Lake is a magical, mysterious domain. 'A slice of paradise', longtime resident, Jared Greerson, often touts. And to residents living along her vast shores or sequestered in the murky confines of marshy coves, Eagle Lake is paradise on earth. Fraught with mysteries and wonders one can see should they visit with an open mind and unbridled love of nature.
Meet Tilly, a gargantuan snapping turtle who dwelled within for forty three years, and Shaver, a beaver that set off a chain of events after showing up unexpectedly one morning after a furious storm. And who can forget Jared and his lifelong friend, Ronald Granger, whose legendary escapades often landed them in trouble, and are talked about to this day.
Born and raised in a cabin in the marshy southern cove, lives Walt Bremmer, the 'Birdman of Eagle Lake'. Walt spends his days building the many birdhouses and nesting boxes for ducks, his handiwork strewn throughout the vast lake and forest beyond. An avid fisherman, Walt rows out every night, no matter the weather, and feeds a bucket of chum to Tilly, adding to her immense girth. He speaks to the turtle as one would a dear friend, sharing his heartache, joy, and the grief he carries deep in his heart. To Walt, Tilly is an angel sent to help him muddle through. While he embraced the sheer joy spent with Tilly, he failed to see the wonder in Shaver. To this day, their epic battle remains the talk of the lake.
World renowned wildlife photographer, Brent Michaels, also lives in the southern cove with his three dogs, Rags, Sage, and Willow. While his career takes him far and wide, he soon learns he doesn't have to journey far to bask in the wonder of nature's beauty. He becomes close friends with Walt, the elderly man filling a void after the loss of his own father.
Shortly after their marriage, Jeff and Lindsy Greerson made Eagle Lake their home. They raised their children, daughter, Bethany, and son, Jared, enjoying the simple pleasures life can bring. Then tragedy struck, leaving the young family floundering.
The years slid by, as if claimed by a thief sneaking in. Share in the lives of residents living on the vast lakeshore. Share their laughter and joy. Bear witness to their sorrow and hardship, and marvel in the wonder of nature. Eagle Lake is a true paradise to those who venture within.
