Next to the bustling metropolis of Ravenwood lies the mysterious village of Nightshade. Encircled by the forbidding Blackthorne Mountains and a forbidden forest meant to deter intruders.

The dim, foreboding landscape befits its inhabitants. Vesper Villainous, the ruthless and brutal ancient Demon King of the Darkbourne, governs his dark realm with an unyielding grip. No one may enter uninvited and those who do never leave unchanged, for Nightshade is a realm where demons thrive.

Embracing his solitude, the eight-hundred-year-old Vesper no longer seeks his mate, aware that the gods seldom grant demons life partners. In his youth, he futilely searched for his fated one, only to be hardened by disappointment. His existence revolves around his thorny crown and preserving a haven for demons teetering on the brink of extinction.

However, one fateful night beneath the full moon, Elora Lunaire, a celestial nymph, ventures into the forbidden forest. Vesper is instinctively drawn to her scent, prompting him to embark on a mission to find her.

Sensing a demonic presence observing her, Elora calls out, demanding the unseen entity to reveal itself. The sole response is a pair of invisible arms lifting her into the air and carrying her toward the ominous Castle Darkbourne.

Elora finds little amusement in Vesper's claim and abduction. Despite recognizing him as her mate, she's taken a vow of celibacy and implores him to release her before she violates her solemn oath.

After eight hundred years, Vesper Villainous has at last discovered his fated one, and a vow of celibacy is no match for him.
