Body snatching, ghostlike creatures made of Fyre, a magical energy beyond this realm, bent on eradicating all sapient life. Alzac is a groundskeeper manning his post at the center for the training of the very best of these mages: The Royal Academy of Riven Falls, the premier institution for war magic in the Kingdom. As groundskeeper, it is Alzac's hope to do what he can to help aspiring mages to realize their potential, even if its something as small as trimming hedges and sweeping paths.
Everything changes when Alzac discovers that he can use Fyre, the energy of the Daevan invaders, and makes the decision to learn to wield his powers for the good of all. A whirlwind of politics and intrigue begins to rise and Alzac must rise to the challenges and defend his home and his friends from a wicked Daevan Prince.
