I run Seddy's Shack in the backwaters of Mirewick for a reason. Let’s just say it's the kind of place powerful men don't visit. The kind of place where a woman with a past can disappear and stay disappeared. But now the sheriff wants to put Seddy down for a murder he didn't commit, and the only person who can clear him is a ruling council member who has everything to lose if the truth comes out.
From the smug smirk on his face, he's betting I'll stay quiet. He clearly doesn't know me very well, because there’s no way in hell I’m going to let him charm his way out of this one.
Even if going after a man that powerful means stepping back into a world I walked away from, I can’t let Seddy’s impending sentence stand. And if clearing his name might cost me everything I've rebuilt since meeting the little guy, so be it.
