The Dark Trail

After the rest of her family were killed by Indians, ten-year-old Clara Somers was enslaved by them. Ten years later, she escaped, intending to inform General Sheridan of Sitting Bull's plans to annihilate all whites west of the Mississippi. Todd Bonner, a rancher, offered to take her to Sheridan, but nothing went according to plan and death was at hand. Then, too, there was the renegade Cheyenne warrior, Cold Star, who was determined to take Clara - or die in the attempt.
