Andie Grace returned to Mount Joy, knowing she'd run into Ryder Griffin. She didn't expect him to have completely forgotten her. When she thinks about it, though, it's not such a surprise. She had a killer crush on him in high school; he didn't know she existed.

Ryder takes one look at Andie and wants her more than he's wanted any other woman-which is saying something since Ryder is known to play the field. His other main pleasure in life is eating, so this chef from out of town is doubly attractive to him. Only trouble is, she's playing hard to get.

Andie bought an old mansion in town, planning to turn it into a B&B while filming a reality television show about the process. What she didn't know is that the man who built it two hundred years ago was rumored to be gold-rush wealthy. And when he died, no one knew where his money went.

The rumor that he hid it at the house Andie is renovating rears its ugly head. As treasure hunters descend, Ryder steps in to help keep Andie safe. But when he finds out she actually grew up in Mount Joy and didn't tell him, he feels like a fool.

Andie hates that her personal life is becoming a public spectacle. Ryder kissed her the day she arrived in town, in front of everyone, including the cameras. Now her big opportunity isn't about her skills as a chef, it's about a romance she believes will only end in a broken heart.

If that's not bad enough, parts f her past she thought she'd escaped are coming back to threaten her. Ryder tells himself he can't leave her to face danger alone, but is it just an excuse to spend time with a woman he's falling in love with?
