At MCAS Beaufort, a routine security check uncovers a disturbing anomaly.
When alarms are raised inside the base, NCIS Supervisory Special Agent Jackson Brooks and his team are called in to investigate. As the evidence mounts, so does the possibility that someone with access to highly classified information is betraying their country.
Meanwhile, Beaufort Police Captain Willow Banks is facing a battle of her own. She and Jackson have built a home with her three nieces in her care, but adopting them means convincing a skeptical social worker that their unconventional—and often dangerous—lives can still provide the stable family the girls deserve.
As Jackson’s leads spill beyond the military installation and drag Willow and her police force into the investigation, they discover that nothing is quite as it seems.
And the greatest dangers are the ones no one sees coming.
