Marmalade and the Death Cats
(2026)(The fifth book in the Jailhouse Cat Cozy Mystery series)
A novel by R E Merrill
For years, Pine Grove Manor has been home to two loyal and loving cats, Smoky and Tiger. Some call them "the death cats" because they always spend a lot of time with residents who are near the end. So when Tabitha Bean notices her friends dying without the cats' company, she gets suspicious.
The trouble is, no one at Pine Grove takes an old woman's worries seriously. So Tabitha does the only thing she can think of: she calls for Ruth—and Ruth's guilt-sniffing Maine coon cat, Marmalade.
Together, Marmalade, Smoky, and Tiger set out to uncover what's really behind the deaths at Pine Grove. Brent Mason, the famous author who's been spending a lot of time at the manor lately, keeps inserting himself into the investigation — is he trying to help, or is he covering something up? As the body count rises, Marmalade will have to catch a killer before Pine Grove loses someone else before their time.
