The Gargoyle
I have watched over sentient dwellings for longer than time. I have witnessed birth and death, love and war, and the best and worst of humanity. I have protected humans without their knowledge, a silent and stony guardian.
Yet, in all my time, I never expected to get decorated with tinsel. And lights. And fake snow.
The new owner, Luke, isn’t quite human, although I’m not sure if he knows that. He also doesn’t know the house he’s inherited isn’t just a house. I do know that in all my time as a gargoyle, I’ve never before felt such a need to reveal myself to someone. I know, however, that it would be catastrophic if I did so. I’m a monster, and Luke would only ever fear me.

I’ve never quite fit in with my family or my town, so when a long lost relative leaves me a manor house, I'''m only too happy to go check it out. It’s old, worn down, and I’m absolutely in love with it at first sight. I’m determined this time to get along well with the people in the nearby town, and with the holidays coming up, being festive and drawing tourists seems like the perfect way to get on the mayor’s good side. If the grumpy-looking gargoyle outside just seems more grumpy-looking every time I decorate him, well… it only adds to his charm.
