Tumbled
(2026)(The fifth book in the Sentient Object Adventures series)
A Story by Philomena MacKinnon and Skye MacKinnon
One lonely washer-dryer. One exhausted woman with a dirty duvet. One laundrette lock-in with extra rinse.
After the worst day of my life, all I wanted was clean bedding. My ex took the sofa, the microwave, my favourite mug, and, because apparently there is no bottom to male audacity, the washing machine. Then my cat peed on the only duvet cover I had left.
So yes, I ended up in a cheap laundrette at closing time, exhausted, broke, and one minor inconvenience away from losing my mind. I did not expect to fall asleep. I definitely did not expect to wake up locked inside. And I really, really did not expect the washer-dryer holding my laundry hostage to start talking.
His name is Dex. He became sentient two days ago thanks to a dodgy smart upgrade and a phone full of romance novels. He’s lonely, bored, absurdly attentive, and far too interested in my delicates.
I should be scared. I should keep my distance. I should not be flirting with a commercial appliance who understands consent better than most men and has very strong opinions about detergent.
But Dex says I deserve to be cared for. Dex says he can make me feel better. And Dex has a setting for everything.
Tumbled is a filthy, funny sentient object romance featuring a lonely washer-dryer, forced proximity, praise, vibration, premium detergent, and enough extra rinse to ruin laundry day forever.
Genre: Paranormal Romance
