When Sarah’s lifeless body is discovered in a remote pasture where milkweed grows, Brenda vows to find her killer. Will her determination lead her to viable clues that lead to the murderer?

Brenda Rivers and her staff are preparing for the bi-annual meeting and luncheon of the local Scribble Society at Sheffield Bed and Breakfast. Its President, Sarah Perch has her hands full. She is particular about everything running smoothly. Besides the luncheon-meeting, her son Professor Jack Perch is due to arrive for the weekend from Kansas. Guests begin to arrive, and Allie Williams gets everyone checked in while Brenda meets with Mrs. Perch to discuss last minute details. The local Authors are looking forward to presenting their works in progress for the usual critiquing, the main purpose of the club.

Everything is running smoothly until pompous Duncan Griffen, who specializes in writing poetry, reads several stanzas he has added to an ongoing poem. He resents anyone who criticizes his writings which intimidates the others from speaking up with honesty. All except Sarah Perch, that is. She graciously tells him his latest style does not match the rest of the poem. He is heartsick over her criticism. He has been in love with the local Librarian for years but has never had the courage to make his move. Sarah determined long ago to never remarry after her husband’s unexpected death.

One of the guests at Sheffield Bed and Breakfast has her eye out for Sarah’s handsome son Jack. He pays little attention to Hilda Picard which does not set well with her. Sarah obviously disapproves of the exotic young woman’s mannerisms who is obnoxious trying to attract Jack.

Cole Barnes has a deep secret to hide from everyone he meets. He befriends Jack for a morning of fishing on the Atlantic. When Sarah Perch goes missing sometime in her walk from the bed and breakfast to her cottage, Cole attempts to distract Jack from his worry about his missing mother.

Brenda is determined to find the beloved Librarian. Detective Mac Rivers organizes the people of Sweetfern Harbor who are determined to find her. When Sarah’s lifeless body is discovered in a remote pasture where milkweed grows, Brenda vows to find her killer. Will her determination lead her to viable clues that lead to the murderer?
