A guarded doctor. A rule-making wild card. One cross-country road trip that could break every rule.

Rules for Platonic Travel
No shared beds.
At each stop, we do our own thing. Alone.
No physical contact.

They're my rules.

This cross-Canada trip is supposed to be my last adventure before I turn thirty and finally get my life together. Instead, I end up on a bus tour with retirees... and become far too aware of the only other passenger under forty.

Blake Robinson is quiet, guarded, and impossible to read.
So when we go our separate ways, I don't expect to see him again.

Until my ride falls through.

Standing on the side of the highway with my thumb out, I hear brakes.

Blake doesn't stop because he wants company. He stops because there's no way he's leaving me to hitchhike alone.

Now we're sharing hotel rooms (with separate beds), crossing Canada together, and adding rules to keep things strictly platonic.

Blake is only passing through. He's a doctor just back from humanitarian work overseas, taking a mandatory break from the people he couldn't save, and counting the days until he can return.

I made the rules because I've never been good at falling halfway.

But somewhere between the miles behind us and the future waiting ahead, Blake becomes the one person I don't want to leave behind.

Content considerations: toxic and manipulative extended family, partner loss/grief
