George Allin, a University man, is disaffected and resentful of the bad treatment fate had dealt him and the injustice he suffered during the war. He declares war on society and seeks his revenge in a life of carefully planned and cleverly executed crime capers.

His intelligence, planning and attention to details makes him successful and he grows prosperous and even becomes a respected public benefactor, marrying not for love but for respectability and family name. He and his team evade capture and although the authorities begin to suspect that George could be involved, they finally call in Papa Pontivy when the Guardian newspapers are robbed just before Christmas.

Pontivy, master spy-catcher turned criminal-catcher has his own suspicions and Pontivy sets him up to feature in the TV series "This is Your Life". It is a trap but will Pontivy be able to finally capture the mastermind behind the series of criminal exploits and the dozens of immensely clever devises that were employed?

But eventually he makes a slip in the TV feature "This is Your Life", and spy-catcher Papa Pontivy is on the case. The excitement mounts as the record shows not merely his criminal exploits, but precisely how they were accomplished: how he built up his cover-character of respectability, and the dozens of immensely clever devices he employed. The experienced reader will revel in Bernard Newman's wide knowledge of the world and under-world, ensuring authentic backgrounds and startling thrills.
