Astrid Ironside is supposed to be fearless but instead fears anything. Most of all, herself. She doesn’t understand why her parents sent her to Paramore, even if the school had invited her to study there. Okay, so, she had to do something. She couldn’t just hide in her bedroom forever, right? Only, the academy had dangerous curriculum and a student body that varied from typical paranormal beings to folklore legends. They also had handsome ones, like him.

Balen Ravensblood wasn’t supposed to exist. A product of a wolf and his raven, he only acknowledged his mother and despised his father. The invitation to Paramore Academy was a shock since he was considered a bit more villain than hero, but they were trying to expand the student body and the population. Maybe he was a test subject. Still, he couldn’t remain in the human realm any longer and at a state school where he was bored to the point of mischief. He suspected he would be a loner and that part of his wolf nature was just fine by him. Only, the moment she looked at him, something changed. He didn’t believe in fate. Didn’t believe in all that hoopla about binding hearts, but he did believe the rest of his body when it declared need, want. And he hadn’t wanted anyone or anything like that before.

A complicated miscommunication later and he was learning that the woman he thought was a fragile creature was a killer of epic proportions. Maybe he’d survive it, maybe he’d just die trying.
