It had only been three months since Jubal Stone found out that he had a half-brother, Ranger Salice Sanchez. Their first meeting in Waco almost ended up in a gunfight. Then they were thrust together on a manhunt where they slowly came to appreciate each other as lawmen and, more importantly, brothers.
Now, Stone decides to visit Salice while he’s near Laredo. He’s looking for a good-blooded ranch stallion for his horse farm. In his first few minutes in town, he hears some very disturbing news that would quickly change his plans: The Laredo Kid, Carlos Mendez, happens to be Salice Sanchez’s brother. Mendez is on a killing spree that has lawmen dropping like flies.
As Jubal sits down for supper at Salice’s mother’s house, he meets the Laredo Kid at gunpoint. Stone goads one of Mendez’s partners into a gunfight. Shortly, thereafter, Salice and Jubal find themselves riding hard on the heels of two killers. They won’t stop until the Laredo Kid is captured or killed.
