When nearing retirement, many people dream of a cottage in the country and Kate and Larry Greenwood are no exception. Hence, after years of living in a city, they fulfil their dream and buy a cottage in need of modernisation in Cornwall.

However, the dream turns to an adventure when Kate and Larry discover a sealed-up cellar hidden beneath lino in an understairs cupboard. Intrigued as to why it was sealed-up, they expose it and find the remains of someone long dead. Subsequently, questions arise. Who is or was the unfortunate person? Who hid the body? And more importantly, why?

Assisted by newly made friends, Kate and Larry endeavour to find answers to their questions, with a little help from their cheeky grandson, Jamie, and his best friend, Mike.

The Cottage in Lady Fern Lane is an easy to read, light-hearted story and the second in the Trenwalloe Sands Cornish Mystery series.
