I came to Screaming Woods to paint portraits of those transformed by Dr. Karloff’s Frankenpunch.
As soon as the grant funding came through, I bought a gorgeous-looking house without even zooming in on the pictures.
Big mistake. The place is one strong gust of wind away from collapse.
My second mistake is misjudging a curve in the road and rear-ending a motorcycle.
The man who climbs off should be furious. Instead, the massive minotaur just stares at me. He’s got curved horns, inked arms, a ring through his nose, and a look on his face that says he isn’t going to forget me anytime soon.
Unfortunately, neither am I.
Because when I finally arrive at my new house, I discover the minotaur whose motorcycle I just destroyed has been living here for the past three years. He has no intention of leaving. He’s also the only one in town who refuses to let me paint him.
