When Cooper Glenn's only veterinarian retires and sells his practice, employee and animal-lover Lori Branton is mortified to discover its new owner is Mitchell 'Mitch' Smith, a high school classmate to whom she wasn't very kind when they were kids. Lori has worked hard to overcome her mean-girl image and decides it's best for all involved that she quit her job. Mitch has other ideas and asks her to stay on at the clinic. Lori fights her developing feelings for Mitch, convinced he's romantically interested in her best friend's little sister. Unwilling to insert herself into a budding romance, Lori decides to move on.
