Tempest Crypt is grumpy when her village gets invaded by smarmy business man, Kirk Wrangler, who's selling the guarantee he can reveal magic is real and so are shapeshifters. And he's on a mission to hunt a werewolf.

When his harrassed assistant, Sabine, is found dead, and Tempest's uncle is discovered at the scene, she steps in. There's no way her uncle Kenny had anything to do with this.

Kirk rallies a hunting party, stirring them up so they think a werewolf is involved in the murder. But something's wrong with that idea. Other women are being bitten, and it's not by a werewolf.

Add in the complication of Tempest's friend, Tate Rathmore - and local werewolf, falling under suspicion, and she has a tangled mystery to unpick.

As Tempest hunts for clues, questions people, and keeps her uncle and friend from jail, her half-sister causes trouble by blasting her unstable magic at everything she sees.

If Tempest can't find the killer, she could lose her uncle or her friend to prison, and a murderer could go free.
